I’ve said for a long while now… Conviction is your #1 resource. I have years ahead of me to get the language right on why this is the case; to unpack it for the world, and speak positively and with utility around this idea. In short, it’s an unshakeable belief. I simply need to tighten the ethos behind it and market it well. What I believe today, with more practice, experience and time playing with the problem, may look drastically different in the future. But in the here and now, I’ve got a strong opinion. And it's not always positive. I expect you’ll love it and feel empowered or hate it and label it a rant. Enter this video… The second in what I’m calling the Excerpt series. In this series, I’ll pull an excerpt from a great work — this one’s from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Self-Reliance — and give my point of view on how you can apply that knowledge to your modern life. Using the below passage, I offer my POV on what I consider a great danger to living a bangin’ life: I do not wish to expiate, but to live. My life is for itself and not for a spectacle. I much prefer that it should be of a lower strain, so it be genuine and equal, than that it should be glittering and unsteady…I know that for myself it makes no difference whether I do or forbear those actions which are reckoned excellent. I cannot consent to pay for a privilege where I have intrinsic right. Few and mean as my gifts may be, I actually am, and do not need for my own assurance or the assurance of my fellows any secondary testimony. I go deep in this one — conviction dripping from the screen — on why this passage is massively important to our modern lives. Particularly, social media, what we share online, the pitfalls of AI’s role in that…and more. You can watch it here: Feel free to 1.5X the speed and treat it like a podcast. If you’re trying to give social media a go and it’s not working, or you’ve looked at the feed and felt inferior over the last few months…this one’s going to sting in the best way. See you Saturday, C P.S. I’m updating my email welcome series for new subscribers.
